Carol May Newsletter

Hello All! Here we are in May!

School will be getting out soon, folks will be graduating, and vacations will begin! As a reminder, we LOVE postcards! If you go somewhere, remember to send us a postcard, c/o Carol or Darlene at TSCPL, 53 W Savannah St Toccoa, GA 30577. We love to receive mail from our patrons, and we display them on a board behind the desk

Our annual Friends of the Library Booksale was a wonderful success! Thanks to all who participated, and if you missed out, no worries! Remember that we have a continuous little book sale year-round, as well as a free section of paperbacks and classics.

On May 15th, the Blood Connection Bus will be here! You can help save lives by donating blood. I can’t tell you how meaningful that is, and I know it works. Plus, there are snacks! Be sure to mark your calendars and come out and donate.

Our book club meets every 3rd Tuesday at 1:00. This month’s book is “Love You More” by Lisa Garnder. I have not read it yet (late but faithful!) but it was highly recommended. I can place it on order for you!

It is not too early to start thinking about Summer Reading! As always, we are offering both children’s AND adult programming. Sign-up for Adult Summer Reading begins June 3, and programming goes from June 10 to July 19. I am planning some great activities that will showcase this year’s theme, “Adventure Begins At Your Library” (remember to send us postcards!). I am excited about Summer Reading, and I know we will all have a great time!

Right now I am reading “Dear Sugar” by Cheryl Strayed. If you have read her work before (I have) and if you liked it (I did), I bet you will like this also. It is letters that were written to her during her stint as an advice columnist called Sugar. I grew up reading the Ann Landers and Dear Abby columns, and this is a modern take on that. It is nice sometimes to read about other people’s problems and I love to see how closely Sugar’s advice aligns with my own. I give it an A!

I hope to see you soon, and happy May!
