Carol July Newsletter

Hello there! I won’t even talk about the weather because 1) it’s Georgia and B) it’s summer. But man, it is hot! Meanwhile, we are nice and cool here in our library. Where else can you come in, get cool, enjoy fun activities, and check out so many forms of entertainment? Remember, we have Experience Passes, including the Atlanta Zoo, The Shakespeare Theatre, the Center for Puppetry Arts, and the patron-favorite, Georgia State Park passes. So for those of you who are looking for fun things to do outside, check us out!
Adult Summer Reading is going very well. We have started two different book clubs (one just for summer) and the turnout has been great! Our next regular book club meets July 16 at 1:00. It is Devil In A Blue Dress by Walter Mosely, and our Summer Book Club will meet July 8 at 4:00 and it is Surviving Savannah by Patti Callahan. On July 22 at 4:00, our book will be The Secret Life Of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. We are having a snack and on the 22nd we are having a beekeeper visit as well. You are welcome to join, even if you have not read the books!
Remember that Chess is on Mondays at 11, and American MahJongg is Monday and Wednesday at 1. Chinese MahJongg is every other Saturday at 11. You are welcome to join, and if you don’t know how, now is the time to learn.
Our wonderful Friends of the Library sponsored a book signing with local author Crystal Cattabriga. She was very informative and brought along “book boxes” full of books and treats. It was nice to meet her. If you have an interest in joining the Friends, come by and fill out a form. It is a mere $10 for a year’s membership, and the Friends really do a lot of behind-the-scenes things for us.
The rest of the adult SRP schedule is:
7/3 Beginning Cross Stitch
7/5 Peaceful Adult Coloring
7/10 Cat Cafe
7/12 Wood Slice Painting
7/17 Grown-up Game Day
and 7/19 Adult Ice Cream Social
It will be a fun and busy summer, and it is NOT too late to sign up!
Remember, we will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
Also, on July 25, we will be having Christmas In July! Come by, cool off, wear your Christmas tees, and check out a Christmas book (we have PLENTY!). It’s just a fun way to celebrate together!
Everybody have fun, enjoy your summer, and come by and see us!

I didn’t realize all of this was going on in our library. I remember receiving emails from the library and then they were gone. I kept seeing Kase and didn’t know what it was so deleted it but looked at it today. So glad I did!
